SHIITAKE NIGHTS
CREATIVE COLLECTIVE
Our work
We are a surreal theatre collective offering absurd variety shows in Scotland which focus on a sense of escapism and imagination. We showcase fun, visual characters and silly storylines to take our audience on a bizzarre voyage of delight. In the past we’ve included talking hoovers, flying hot dogs, banana-eating-bananas, kazzoo orchestras, Tom Jones tribute acts, janitor love triangles and harpists called Neil.
Our intent is to take our audience on a wild carpet ride in the basement of the Rum Shack, so that, for an hour and a half, you forget reality ever even existed. We have local musicians joining us, as well as inviting guests to perform on each show, this way we can champion and showcase talents from around Scotland, creating opportunities for other absurd comedy performancers. Inclusivity and sense of community are key in our values as a collective.
Together, we create the show, from the writing process, to the graphic design, set/costumes design, stage direction, social media. It is a team effort where we thrive in working together as one big mad unit of fun and DELIGHT.
We offer shows throughout the year in original venue, the Rum Shack in the Southside of Glasgow. We also tour around Scotland in various festivals such as Eden and Kelburn Festival. In the past we have Sold Out shows in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with the Gilded Balloon and Paradise Palms, Glasgow International Comedy Festival and the Tron Theatre. We take pride in valueing and respecting who we work with, always.
We are looking forward to expanding and growing in the electrifying creative community in Scotland and beyond.
